PHOTO  ISLA MARGARITA

My first trip to The Andes, state of Mérida in Venezuela, made deep impression. I visited already before Isla Margarita and some states in the north of Venezuela like Monagas, Anzoategui and Guarico but The Andes is completely different.

Nature is overwhelming. The Andean population is very kind and polite and most of all the birds are astonishing beautiful.

Most of the time I was exploring the Páramo region of the higher Andes, wet to moderately dry tropical alpine grass- or shrublands.

I visited the National Park Sierra Nevada ( 600-5007m.) in Eastern Mérida. Humid montane forest, páramo and high mountain peaks with glaciers.

Also the Botanic Garden of Mérida - 1850m. (Jardín Botánico de Mérida). It pertains to the University of Science of Mérida and their mission is; investigation and educate people in order to conserve the beauty and bio-diversion from The Andes. Several species of beautiful birds were flying around there.

I saw the Andean Teal in the Lake of Mucubaji (Laguna de Mucubaji). A duck of high Andean lakes.

The photos on this site show birds that you can find in the regions that I visited. As well as photos made during boattrips on the river “Morichal Largo” and the lagoon “Laguna de la Restinga” on the Northern coast of Isla Margarita.

I hope you enjoy looking at the photos as much as I did making them.
