Violet-chested Hummingbird

Sternoclyta cyanopectus

The female hummingbird was hatching out two tiny white eggs. The nest, with the size of a half tea egg, hung rather exposed over the water at the forest border along the river Morichal Largo. You can imagine that when I saw my first hummingbird incubate her clutch it was quite an experience.
