White-sided Flowerpiercer

Diglossa albilatera

It moves furtively along dense vegetation and I see it almost every afternoon. Its bill is sligtly upturned and hooked at the top. It is restless and hyperactive. With the strange bill it pierces flower corollas for nectar. In rapid succession it goes from flower to flower. It loves flowering vines, trees and shrubs along humid forest borders.

It took a while but finally is was perched atop some shrubs and I could make some photos.
