Wattled Jacana

Jacana jacana

A nice surprise on the golfcourse. In a small lagoon I see a beautiful little bird. It walks with its extraordinarily long toes over floating vegetation. Rapidly it is pecking at vegetation for insects. Interesting to know is that  polyandrous female lays for two or more male. Male incubate their separate clutches.

When disturbed it lifts and flashes yellow flight feathers.
