Moustached-Brush Finch

Atlapetes albofrenatus

The first time I see it climbing out of some vegetation. With its rufous crown and nape it is surprising conspicuous. Easy to see but very scary. Half hidden it seeks nimble but methodical for anthropod prey on mossy trunks, low limbs and foliage. It stays near the river at the border of the forest. Then it is gone....

One week later it is back again. Early in the morning it suddenly popped up in front of my window. I hear a few musical notes. This time it is not in a hurry. Time enough to make some photos.
